When you think of the seaside in Great Yarmouth, think of one glorious sandy beach stretching almost continuously for over 15 miles, from Winterton in the north to Hopton in the south. Safe, clean, sandy beaches set the scene for hours of seaside enjoyment.

The length of sandy beaches available in the Great Yarmouth area means that you will always be able to find a secluded spot for that "get away from it all" feeling or join the masses of happy holidaymakers for that all-round seaside holiday feeling.

The whole stretch of beach from Winterton down to Great Yarmouth (with the exception of Caister) is patrolled by the Young Citizens Guild, who help to ensure the safety of the beach and its surrounding area.
The group also operate a tagging scheme for young holidaymakers who can be fitted with a coded wristband. The wristband can then help the police and YCG to trace a child 's address if they go walkabout.
